The term free trade implies you can trade with no restrictions or laws, and you wonít have to pay any taxes or embargoes. In short, you can do whatever you want. It all sounds good, but it really just fills the pockets of the rich traders and corporations.
We should not allow our big corporations to run to small countries, build their factories, over-ride their laws, and take advantage of the local people just to make money. First of all, that is not the real reason for business, and it again clearly shows what is wrong with corporations. Itís people who count, not bottom lines, and products that are important to the growth of our society, not stockholders.
My idea is to send our business experts to less fortunate countries and give them technology to catch up with the first world. We will teach them how to build their own factories and create their own products. Then they will become self-sufficient and can take care of themselves. The profits they earn will stay in their country and spur economic growth, allowing them to catch up with the rest of the world. By building and controlling their own industry, they will develop a sense of confidence and self-worth that will strengthen the moral fiber of their country. They will also learn we are there to help, not control. We want to be friends in a peaceful world, not dictators in a corporate world. We donít need to take advantage of others to make more and more money. Letís start moving towards a world where we help each other instead of competing for money.
InThe Winters Plan, I present my ideas on how to deal with world trade so that it is fair to everyone. I will present some common sense ideas on how to keep our industrial base strong while still helping out other nations. I also think we need to help the 3rd world get on its feet and take care of itself. Capitalism takes away the ability to run your own business and allows corporations to consume all of the important sections of our economy. I have some new ideas on business that will correct this trend and get the American dream back on track.
